ASBESTOS PIPE INSULATION INFORMATION
Asbestos Pipe Insulation ( Lagging ); is a plaster based material mixed with Asbestos fibre and applied to heating pipework and other situations as an insulation material.
It was used in this application extensively from as early as 1910 through to the late 1970s
|
It was used for;
- Pipe insulation
- Calorifier and Tank insulation
- In Floor Ducts and Voids
- Insulation to Boilers
- Within Rising Ducts
- Hardset Lagging
- Sectional Lagging
|
|
In some instances Pipe Lagging can contain in excess of 90% Asbestos Fibre, normally Crocidolite (Blue Asbestos) and or Amosite ( brown asbestos ) and or Chrysotile
( white Asbestos )
Asbestos Lagging can pose a serious health risk to those coming into contact with it, particularly if is damaged and friable.
As a minimum it should be encapsulated and managed, however removal is often the safest choice.
It must only be worked on or removed by a Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor under fully controlled conditions

"I needed an extensive ceiling removing urgently as a big renovation job had to be halted due to asbestos content in textured coating. GP Asbestos responded immediately performing a site visit and quotation within 4 hours and completed the removal the next day."
