ASBESTOS INSULATION BOARD INFORMATION
Asbestos Insulation Board (AIB); is a friable building board that was widely used through the building boom times of the 1950’s through to the 1980’s.
It commonly went under the trade name of Asbestolux and was used as a heat resistant or acoustic linning, also a general building board.

It was used as;
- Fire Proof Linings to Lift Shafts
- Acoustic Ceiling Tiles
- Heat Resistant Panels to Catering Equipment
- Panels within Night Storage Heaters
- Partition Walls
- Linings to Fire Doors
- Service Riser Panels and Linings
- Gas fire Surrounds

Asbestos Insulation Board can typically contain between 20% and 40% Amosite
( Brown Asbestos) in some instances also Crysotile ( White Asbestos )
If it is exposed it should as minimum be protected or encapsulated.
Removal would normally be under fully controlled conditions by a Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor.
